What is a RagePAD?

RagePAD is an engineered impact-absorbing desk pad designed to provide a safer outlet for common gamer frustration movements such as taps, slaps, or controlled strikes. When used as intended, it helps reduce the risk of damaging desks, equipment, or your hands.

What is the difference between RagePAD and RagePAD+?

RagePAD+ includes an integrated impact-activated soundboard, custom MP3 playback, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Standard RagePAD contains no electronics or sound features.

What problem is RagePAD designed to solve?

RagePAD redirects real-world behavior into a safer format. It helps reduce risk of damage to desks, keyboards, or controllers, lower the chance of hand discomfort from striking hard surfaces, and reduce noise compared to striking a desk. RagePAD does not encourage aggression; it provides a controlled surface for moments that already occur in gaming.

What are the dimensions?

All models measure 8 in × 8 in × 2 in. Approximate weights: RagePAD 3.6 oz; RagePAD+ 5.5 oz. These dimensions were determined through real-world testing to balance impact absorption, stability, and desk usability.

How was RagePAD developed?

The product evolved through hundreds of prototypes, including early 3D-printed TPU models. Testing refined durability, structure, and resistance levels, resulting in the final engineered foam design. The flat square surface was chosen for performance and safety, with professional input confirming reduced wrist injury risk compared to uneven targets.

Who invented RagePAD?

RagePAD was invented by Maxim Harris, a young entrepreneur and gamer. The product was developed through extensive real-world testing with friends, family, and independent prototype manufacturers. RagePAD is produced by ASHtec LLC.

How popular is RagePAD?

RagePAD has demonstrated strong organic demand including viral social videos with millions of views, high engagement rates, multiple sell-outs, retail expansion, and regional media coverage.

Does RagePAD support any charitable causes?

RagePAD donates at least 20% of profits to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and additional charities supporting children facing serious health challenges. More information is available on the official website.

Is RagePAD affiliated with St. Jude?

No. RagePAD is an independent company and is not officially affiliated with or endorsed by St. Jude. Donations are voluntary contributions made by the company.

Can I use it on glass or fragile desks?

Use only on stable, durable surfaces. Use caution on glass or delicate materials.

Is RagePAD fireproof?

No. Keep away from open flames and excessive heat.

Is RagePAD safe for children?

Recommended ages: RagePAD 10+; RagePAD+ 12+. Adult supervision is advised for younger users. Keep packaging materials and small components away from children.

Is RagePAD a replacement for anger management or therapy?

No. RagePAD is not a medical or therapeutic device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition.

How hard can I hit it?

RagePAD is designed for typical desk-level impacts such as slaps or controlled strikes. It is not intended for full-force punching or repeated heavy blows.

Can I kick or punch it?

No. RagePAD is engineered for hand impacts only. Using feet, elbows, knees, or full-force punches is considered misuse.

Is RagePAD a punching bag?

No. It is not designed for boxing, martial arts, or athletic striking.

Does RagePAD prevent injury?

RagePAD is designed to reduce risk when used properly. No product can eliminate injury risk.

I can not reach the switch with my fingernail.

The switch in the RagePAD+ is accessible through the port with something like the tip of a pen it is not designed to be accessed with your finger.  Since the RagePAD+ can be charged, connected to a PC, and used while in the on position we found in testing testers seldom ever turned them off so we did not add the expense of making a switch adapter that would allow for easy operation with your finger.   However customer feedback may prove otherwise over time.

How long does it last?

When used as intended, RagePAD is built for long-term durability. Lifespan varies depending on frequency and intensity of use.

Can it break?

Yes. Any product can be damaged by misuse or excessive force.

How do I clean it?

Wipe with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap if needed. Do not submerge in water. For RagePAD+, power off before cleaning. Cover care: machine wash cold, do not bleach, wash with similar colors. The zipper is not designed for frequent removal.

My RagePAD looks dented after use. Is that normal?

Foam may temporarily compress after extended use. Allowing it to rest usually restores shape. If needed, apply gentle indirect warm air from a safe distance. Do not use direct heat.

Can I use it while charging?

Yes, though charging may take longer.

What battery does RagePAD+ use?

RagePAD+ uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Do not puncture, disassemble, expose to extreme heat, incinerate, immerse in water, or use damaged charging cables. Stop use immediately if swelling or overheating occurs.

How do I charge it?

Use the included USB cable and a standard USB power source. A red light indicates charging.

How long does the battery last?

Battery life depends on sound volume and frequency of use.

What if it malfunctions?

Stop use and contact support. Do not attempt repairs.

Why does my RagePAD+ sometimes not play a sound

Why My RagePAD+ Didn’t Play a Sound

Sometimes your RagePAD+ may not trigger a sound on a hit. In almost all cases, it’s one of the reasons below, listed in order of how often we see them.

1) The board hasn’t reset yet

If your RagePAD+ was hit recently, the soundboard may still be finishing the previous sound and resetting. Reset time varies based on the sound file length, but it always takes a few seconds.

Also, in the default configuration, the RagePAD+ will not trigger again until the vibration sensor fully settles. If you strike the pad very hard, it can take a little longer for the sensor to settle.

If reset time is a consistent issue, you can change the IO setting in the RagePAD+ config file from 02 (default) to 01. This tells the board to interrupt the current sound and start a new one, which some users prefer depending on their play style.

2) The hit wasn’t hard enough (sensitivity varies by person and surface)

We tested 18 different sensitivity variations across multiple strike strengths and surfaces to find the best overall setting, including:

  • Hits from a 10-year-old, 14-year-old, and a very strong young adult

  • Surfaces like a chair arm, table, and floor

  • “At rest” testing to reduce false activations from ambient vibrations

Even with that testing, vibration behavior can vary by surface and user. Depending on your setup, your RagePAD+ might:

  • Trigger unintentionally on high-vibration surfaces, or

  • Not trigger if the hit is too light for that surface/setup

3) The switch is in the OFF position

The RagePAD+ sound model has a small on/off switch. Make sure it is pushed fully toward the “R” logo (ON).

4) The battery needs charging

RagePAD+ uses a rechargeable battery and should last for hundreds of activations per charge, but sound file type and usage conditions can reduce battery life.

Quick check: pick up the RagePAD+ and gently shake it. If no sound plays:

  1. Move the switch to OFF

  2. Plug into a USB power source to charge

  3. Charge until the red light turns off, indicating it is fully charged

5) Custom sound files are corrupted or the wrong format (rare)

If you loaded custom sounds and certain files do not play, confirm:

  • The sound files are in the required format, and

  • They play correctly on a PC using the default media player (no special codecs)

If you want, I can also rewrite this into a tighter “FAQ card” style for the product page, or a shorter “quick troubleshooting” version for the printed insert.

How do I add sounds?

Connect to a Windows PC via USB, turn power on, device appears as USB drive, add MP3 files (max 8MB each), do not delete CONFIG file, safely eject before unplugging.

The soundboard has no files

If you accidently delete all the files, or reformat the storage on your RagePAD+ it will stop working.  If this occurs simply make sure the drive is formated as a FAT type partition and you can download the default sounds and config file here

Does RagePAD include a warranty?

Yes. See the official website for full warranty details.

Where can I buy authentic RagePAD products?

Authentic products are sold on the official website and official TikTok shop. RagePAD is not currently sold on Amazon, eBay, or other marketplaces.

Is RagePAD trademarked?

Yes. USPTO Serial No. 99197571. Owner: ASHtec LLC. Filed May 22, 2025.

Is RagePAD patented?

Trademark protection is active. Patent filings, if any, are confidential or pending.

How did you come up with RagePADs

I am a gamer and when I am well I am a athelete.  I am super competitive so for a bunch of reasons I sometimes loose my cool when I play.  So I came accross the RagePAD idea naturally but then a school project made me realize it was not just something I imagined, it was a real need.  You can read all about my origin story on this page

What is the difference between the RagePAD and the RagePAD+

The only difference between the RagePAD and the RagePAD plus model is the strike activated sound board.   So when you hit your RagePAD+ it will play sounds.  The standard sounds are destructive like breaking dishes or a car skidding to a crash.  However the idea is for people to customize their soundtrack to what works best for them to release their frustrations and get back to the game.
